Halloween Re-Vamped

Have you started feeling déjà vu at every Halloween party that you attend? The same people, in recycled costumes, playing the same games and eating the same food. Now that is the real nightmare! AAAAAHHHHH! Let Party411.com help you re-"vamp" your party and bring your social life back from the dead.

Whether you're 8 or 80 years old, you are never too old for Halloween. Follow party411.com through a haunted house where we will divulge the best costume ideas, newest and most creative decorations, silliest games, and most gruesome looking (but delicious) treats. Enter if you dare... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Party Location

You don't live in a haunted house? There isn't a pumpkin patch nearby? Where will you have your party? One of the best places to have a party is in a basement. Think about it… it's dark, cool, creepy, away from the rest of the house, and best of all it's underground. It is also an inexpensive place to party and simple to decorate. Just add a some inexpensive scene setters. Since we are creating a haunted house use a haunted forest scene so people feel like their trapped inside looking out a window.  Or maybe the skull border if you don’t have a full wall. 

Another fun idea is to go to your local bowling alley and check out the accommodations. Some places have spooky midnight bowling, where everyone dresses in costumes and bowl in very limited lighting. Most alleys also have party rooms where you and your guests can chill if you're all bowled out. None of these ideas strike your fancy? Throw a frightfully fabulous bash in a garage or in an empty warehouse. Rent an old barn, find a pumpkin patch or cornfield.

Halloween Party Invitations

Attach all of the spooky details on your party to a funky Halloween keychain and hand-deliver each invite to your guests. (Make sure to dress up when you're delivering the invitations too.)  Go to your local card shop and choose the scariest invitations that you can find. On the inside, be creative and write funny responses to the "Who, Where, and When" for the party. Next to "Who," write, "The most evil witch you know- (name)." Next to "Where" write "The Cemetery located at (your address)." Next to "When," write "4 hours before the witching hour" (8pm).

Cut out huge orange circles and make each guest his or her own paper pumpkin invitation. Write the details of the party on the pumpkin and then attach a "lollighost." To make a "lollighost," take a lollipop and place a square of white fabric about 5" x 5" over the candy portion of the sucker. Tie the fabric at the place where the sucker and the stick meet so that it looks like a little ghost.

Attach the party information to the mask, but make sure that it is easily detached. Everyone must wear his or her masks to the party.

Halloween Decorations 

Outside use phony tombstones in the yard that say R.I.P.  Better yet, try a glow in the dark tombstones mixed with an assortment of other tombstones. Spider webs hanging from the trees, and several carved pumpkins complete with candles inside to light up their faces.

Also, ghouls, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and the rest of the scary Halloween crew can hang in your front windows. A fun way to decorate the door to the party place is to make your own candy wreath. Yummy!

Light the way up the walk with a skull light up lawn stakes or light up skull fence.

Ask party411”s Creations for you to provide you a Frankenstein, Dracula, or other Halloween character life size cutout to help decorate. Make sure to hang a sign warning others that your party is a "HIGH RISK AREA" and to "ENTER IF YOU DARE."

As your guests enter the party area make sure that spooky Halloween music is playing in the background to set the eerie mood for the evening. Once your guests enter the party, they will feel like they are in a different world. For a really fun and creative idea, set a theme for your party like the Disco Era- 1970s and have everyone dress up as deceased people who were popular in the '70s (Jimi Hendrix, Richard Nixon, Janis Joplin, etc.  Use black lights, disco lighting, and creative Motion Lamps to return your guests to the days of disco.

Tables and Centerpieces

If this is a casual party, then set up different types of food on each table. However, if this party is on the snazzy side, place a different Halloween item in the middle of each table (on a pedestal and with balloons attached) and give each table a different name. One table can be the "Petrified Pumpkins", while another table can be the "Goofy Ghouls." Decorate your tables with Cemetery Terror paper goods.

• Name your tables after different candy bars and attach mini candy bars that match each table to the seating cards.

Halloween Party Menu

Name the foods on your party menu after Halloween "characters" like, Frankenstein's Frightening French fries, Boogie Man Burgers, Ghoulash, etc. You can even have Dirt Cake for dessert (stick gummy worms in the dessert to make it look authentic).

What to Wear 

Wear a great costume of course! Do not be a party pooper!!! It doesn't matter how great your costume is as long as you wear one. You will stick out like a sore thumb if you don't dress up. You can always dress from the neck up. (see our Neck Up Halloween Party)
