Twirling Ballerina Theme Party
Does your little girl dream in clouds of pink tulle? Does she walk around the house on her toes and tell you that "everyone wears a leotard and tutu to school"? At one time or another, every little girl's fantasy is to be a ballerina. Give into this fantasy, and let your little girl invite her friends over for a Twirling Ballerina Birthday!
Ballerina Invitations
Send an invitation that will have all of your guests pirouetting from excitement! A personalized ballerina birthday invitation will do the trick! Let your guests know they can come in their favorite ballerina costume!
You can also make your own invitations with pink and off-white cardstock. Print the party information on the off-white cardstock in a fun font. Layer the printed paper onto a slightly larger piece of pink cardstock with a glue stick to give it some weight and depth. Make two holes at the top of the invite with a hole punch and add a strand of pink satin ribbon tied in a bow. You can even add a little star confetti in the envelope for a little extra pizzazz (the prima ballerina is the star of the show)!
Ballerina Decorations and Party Supplies
Start with a few WOW decorations that will show everyone what a special day it is! Use a personalized ballerina banner to feature the guest of honor at the front of the house. As you guests walk in the front they will see a fabulous life-sized cutout of the guest of honor as a prima ballerina!
Another cute idea is to have a sign-in area where everyone can leave a message for the birthday girl. A ballerina theme journal can be used, or go with a personalized sign in board that matches the invitations! It will be a memento that that the birthday girl will cherish forever!
Hang pink crepe paper and lavendar crepe paper along the walls with pink tulle. Hang posters of famous ballets and dancers, and if you have a pair of ballet shoes string those up as well. Play music from famous ballets such as Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet and the Nutcracker in the background.
Place balloon bouquets around the room. Combine pink balloons and purple balloons for a nice bouquet. You can use the balloons to decorate the tables and help define the party area. Place some near the entrance and near any activities too!
Ballerina Table Decorations and Menu
Scatter sparkle star confetti all over the table, and set the table with Ballerina party supplies. Wrap the plastic cutlery in a napkin and tie it off with a piece of pink tulle (or a pink hair "scrunchy" that the girls can take home).
If you are looking for ideas for inexpensive and simple centerpieces, ballet shoes fits the bill. You can add a balloon bouquet to each table for added color and height.
Serve sandwiches in the shape of ballet slippers. You should be able to find a cookie cutter shaped like a ballet slipper, but if not, let the girls make sandwiches and cut them out in shapes like butterflies and hearts. To make a fun fizzy pink punch, mix raspberry sherbet and either ginger ale or lemon lime soda. Don't forget a cute ballet themed cake or pink frosted cupcakes for dessert.
Ballerina Party Activities
Scope out what's available for the party in your community. Is there a dance studio that will lend you some space? Teach the girls a new step? Give a demonstration? Think of the fun everyone would have! This is something different that everyone is sure to enjoy!
No matter what the theme piñatas are always fun. Try a ballet slipper piñata to create some fun. Stuff it with fun items and candy like pink bubble gum, candy necklaces and bracelets, inexpensive lip glosses, ballet stickers, ring pops and pink rock crystal candy.
Have the girls decorate their own tutus with chiffon, or other material that can be found at your local fabric store (buy sequins, beads, etc. to make them really sparkle). This is a great activity since it is also a party favor!
Younger children will benefit from quieter activities such as coloring sheets. You can also have a story time with a ballet theme book such as Angelina Ballerina. The library is sure to have a few choices.
Ballerina Theme Party Favors
As the actual treat bag, simply buy some pink tulle and cut it into squares. Wrap the treats up in the netted fabric, and tie it with a pink curly ribbon! Or start with an empty ballerina theme favor box. Fill treat bags or boxes with all kinds of good stuff:
- Personalized Ballerina Candy Bar
- Hair Accessories
- Beaded Bracelets and Necklaces
Everyone will have such a great time at the Twirling Ballerina Birthday Party, especially the prima ballerina guest of honor!
