Linda asked:
Occasion: Halloween Costumes
I have 8 month old twins (girls) and was looking for ideas for Halloween costumes for them. Is there a place on the web to buy baby costumes?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Go to Penney's. I have 2 1/2 yr. old
twin granddaughters and we got their costumes for under one year old there.
Ruthie asked:
Occasion: homecoming
Well, my best guy friend wants to ask this girl to Homecoming dance, and he
doesn't know how to ask her. He wants something cute, cheap, and very unique. can
you help me to find a cute way for my friend to ask this girl???
Thanks!
The Party Girl's advice is:
He could get a toy car and see if she
would like to go for a ride in its "big brother' to the homecoming dance.
Farrah asked:
Occasion: Winter Formal
I am sixteen years old and I am in Leadership at my high school. We are
planning a Winter Formal, where the students dress in formal attire. This year
we are trying to do something different. Do you have any suggestions about
what type of games, or food we should have?
The Party Girl's advice is:
When people are dressed formally, the
games have to be a bit more reserved and the food not too messy. Look at
party411.com/gamegirl for game ideas. Do you have a theme? Blow up a picture of
a couple in funny dress and cut out the faces and take Polaroid's of the couple
looking through. buffets are usually less expensive and keep a party moving.
Stacy asked:
Occasion: scavenger hunt
I need some scavenger hunt ideas. I want to have them go place to place using
clues or riddles, and also get various items by begging. I don't want to use
cameras since not everyone has them. I don't want any items on the list to be
purchased. I was mostly looking for unique ideas about free things they can
beg for, as well as embarrassing things for them to do to get items. I wasn't
sure how they could prove that they did do what is asked. Please help!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Here's a suggestion: The clue is
"The other side of things" and the answer is a negative. It is
easier to think of the object first. Another clue is "ABC, not to the
knew" and the answer is a pair of baby socks. Clue: "Times
Past", answer a magazine that is over a year old.
Deanna asked:
Occasion: wine tasting
Hello, Would you please give me any tips for holding a wine tasting at our
showroom? We distribute high-end appliances, like Sub-Zero refrigeration and I
would like to promote SZ's new wine storage systems. This wine tasting would
be for our industry professionals who specify appliances (mostly interior
designers, custom home builders, architects, etc.
The Party Girl's advice is:
You should get together with one or two
of the good wine stores and get them involved. They would love the publicity
and know more than I ever will. They have undoubtedly help wine tastings
before. Also, call your society editor at the paper and see what charity has
had a wine tasting or wine auction and get in touch with them for help.
Cassandra asked:
Occasion: new year's
Any great ideas, that would make this party one people will want to not miss,
as there will be a lot of bars open and other millennium parties going on
The Party Girl's advice is:
No guarantees ever about parties but
look at party411.com/themes at the millennium party there for some ideas. Lots
of people rove from place to place that night.
Lisa asked:

has played lots of tricks on friends and family and has a great sense of
humor. He is an Elk hunter and enjoys sports. looking for decorating ideas and
games. Lisa
The Party Girl's advice is:
Get a picture of him blown up to poster
size and play a game of _Pin the "Gut" on him and then have everyone
sign it. Go to the drug store and get a bunch of the sample size products for
"old" people such as Prep H and Dentucreme. Make him sit in a
rocking chair and wear a shawl, take lots of pics, when he opens his gifts.
Also, if you can find a toy stuffed elk of some sort and put a beard, shawl,
glasses on it, tell him that this is now his type of game. Look at
party411.com/themes for other ideas and www.oriental.com for great
decorations.
Becca asked:

ideas. Do some baking, videos, makeovers.
Marcey asked:

decorating ideas, games, etc. Thank you.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes for the
Halloween Party idea for some suggestions. Then look at party411.com/gamegirl

I'm trying to word a cute invitation for the girls to give their dads to
invite them to this party. Wording so it has a western theme to it please
hurry I'm running behind. thanks

like "Want to 'horse' around, daddy?" and then put the details.
Amberle asked:
Occasion: just for fun
What are some good ideas for games to play at a party where the theme is
Western and the ages range from 13-18?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/gamegirl for some
ideas.
nicole asked:
Occasion: Sorority "Grub" (aka date party)
We need a very unique and fun theme. We only want the best, we want to stand
out. We do not want Disco, 80's, country, army, thrift store, tacky prom, etc........ we want something very awesome and fun!!!!!!!! I know that we want
to look cute, but we want the boys who didn't get asked to want to have had to
been asked. Please help us!!!!!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Have you looked at party411.com/themes
for some ideas? If you want a theme to look cute, you could use female singers
and their outfits and music. Find posters, and memorabilia about them and
wear their style of clothes and possibly wigs.
tara asked:

with my friends. I am not sure o n the kinds of food or drinks or decorations I
can buy because I am a low budget student any ideas??? I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!

The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at www.oriental.com for their Halloween
stuff, cute and not expensive. For food, have candy or taffy apples,
cider, chips, pretzels, etc. pumpkin stuff and lots of Halloween candy. Also
soft drinks.
Linda asked:
Occasion: Fall Festival
In an effort to boost the attendance of the youth group at our church, we
decided to plan a small, but fun, fall/Halloween party. Could you give some
ideas for games, activities, decorations, food etc.?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Have you looked at party411.com/themes
at the Halloween party ideas? Have a contest for the best centerpiece and make
teams to create them. Look at www.oriental.com for great decorations. Are you
doing a meal or just snacks?
sue asked:
Occasion: 35th Class Reunion
I am stumped for centerpieces - at the last reunion I used red& white balloons
(helium filled) anchored in white bud vases with red artificial
carnations - would like something in red and white with
candles/confetti/ribbons????
The Party Girl's advice is:
If you want to do something funny, get
small baskets and spray them white. Fill them with red tissue paper and in
them place sample size products from the drug store that have to do with
"old age" like Dentucreme, and Preparation H. Have red and white
balloons again.
Kitty asked:
Occasion: Halloween
My husband and I have been invited to a Halloween costume party in two weeks.
Can you give me some ideas for costumes? Something quick, easy &
inexpensive. Thanks in advance for your help.
The Party Girl's advice is:
You could be bags of jelly beans. Blow
up a lot of colored balloons. Get clear cleaning bags and get inside and
staple the bottom closed. Fill with balloons and staple the tops. Put a sign
on the front "Jelly Beans $1.09". Get bathing caps and blue balloons
to top. Go to the craft store for elastic and make wrist bands with beads and
put some on sneakers.
CSmith asked:
Occasion: helmets
Hi! I am trying to find miniature football helmets for a
centerpiece. I saw them once in a catalog and can't seem to find the catalog
when I need it! We are going to do a balloon centerpiece and on the
table put a miniature football with the team logo and we wanted a small helmet
about 4" high to go along with it. If you can help ,please e-mail me and
let me know where I can find it. Thanks for your kindness!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at www.oriental.com for their
catalogues. They have everything.
Raquel asked:
Occasion: Halloween
have any ideas to help?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Go to party411.com/themes and there is
a Halloween party there. Use what you can. Also, www.oriental.com for a great
catalogue.
R asked:
Occasion: not sure
Yes, we wanted something that is a title of a slow song. We were thinking
"Time of my Life" from Dirty Dancing, (Dirty Dancing would not be
the theme!) or "Right here waiting for you" by Richard Marx. Got any
ideas? We like old 80's songs! Thank you so much for helping!
The Party Girl's advice is:
I would love to help but I don't know
what for. What is the occasion? Who are the guests (age and sex)? Day or
night? etc. Write back and I can help.
Seth asked:
Occasion: Halloween
Hi, I am having a Halloween party for some friends that I haven't seen in quite
a while. No children are there and we all will probably get somewhat
intoxicated. My question is what to do. We are going to barbeque and I thought
about renting some scary movies that we all remember from when we were
younger. I just need some ideas to keep about 15 old friends entertained.
Thanks
The Party Girl's advice is:
Why not have them all bring pictures
from the past to share with each other and write down some funny memories to
share. Play some of the music that was popular with you were all together.
Have a scavenger hunt in the house and be creative in the items. For more
ideas, look at party411.com/themes at the Halloween party
BOBBYE asked:
Occasion: party
I WOULD LIKE TO HOST A PARTY FOR MY DAUGHTERS BROWNING TROOP. ALLOW THE GIRLS
TO DRESS IN SUNDAY BEST AND LEARN MANNERS. SOMETHING SWEET, AND VICTORIAN.
HOWEVER, I'M HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING ANY INFO ON WHAT "SHOULD" BE
SERVED, ETC. PLEASE HELP E-MAIL RESPOND, PLEASE HARRIS
The Party Girl's advice is:
I assume you want to have some sort of
tea party but little girls don't usually like tea. Serve cider 9hot or cold)
or hot chocolate. Small miniature sandwiches and tartlets would work.
Jan asked:
Occasion: quasi-family reunion
My cousins and I are planning a family get together. There'll be 10 of
us...what I'm trying to do is organize the Family Olympics where each of us
contribute $10 and whoever amasses the most points at the end of the weekend
gets $100. Some ideas I've come up with are a road-rally, mini-golf, bowling,
movies (where whoever amasses the most ticket stubs from other moviegoers gets
extra points), apple picking and then a subsequent bake-off...can you help me
with some other creative (and cheap) activities? Thanks!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Send everyone a disposable camera and a
list of things they must photograph and develop and bring to the reunion.
Whoever has the best set of photos wins the most points. Make the list funny
and interesting. Have each group write and sing a song about them and the
family.
lyn asked:
Occasion: cattleman's banquet
I need some ideas for dressing up the banquet tables - they will have white
paper tablecloths - for a cattleman's banquet. There is no budget. I have to
use whatever I can get. Something to do with leaves, hay any maybe pumpkins
(small). And something nice for the main table. thanks
The Party Girl's advice is:
Along with the colored leaves and
pumpkins, use colorful horse corn and see if you can borrow enough cowboy hats
to use. Maybe small lassos too.
Heather asked:
Occasion: party
I want to buy something from party favors but my mom wont lend me money nobody
else will ether what should I do I really want them?
The Party Girl's advice is:
You could earn the money to buy what
you need. Other than that, you have to work this out with your mom.
Kelli asked:
Occasion: nothing
What can I do for decorations? I am a first time room mother and I need
help!!!!please and prizes for the game (spin wheel)
The Party Girl's advice is:
You haven't told me what this is for
and any details. Write back with these.
Darlena asked:
Occasion: Halloween
I am going to be 8 months pregnant at this party. Do you have any costume
suggestions? I am open for any ideas.
The Party Girl's advice is:
You could go as a cookie jar, tea pot,
flower pot or anything that has a wide, comfortable base.
Sarah asked:
Occasion: HALLOWEEN
I AM IN NEED OF HELP. I HAVE TO COME UP WITH A HALLOWEEN THEME AND COSTUMES
FOR SIX PEOPLE HERE AT WORK. WE ARE HAVING A BIG COMPLETION ON WHO HAS THE BEST
THEME AND THE BEST COSTUMES. AND I HAVE NO GREAT (WINNING) IDEAS. CAN YOU
PLEASE HELP ME? I'D APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH! THANK YOU SO MUCH! SINCERELY
SARAH TRIPP
The Party Girl's advice is:
One of the most fun things we did one
year was to come as bags of jelly beans. We got clear plastic cleaning bags
and stapled them top and bottom so that our heads, arms and legs came out. We
filled the bags with colored balloons before stapling the top. We put a sign
on the front JELLY BEANS $1.09 or any other number. We got bathing caps and
glued balloons to it and put them on. We glued smaller balloons to elastic and
wrapped it around our wrists and ankles and glued jelly beans to tennis shoes
and white gloves and wore those.
Ellen asked:
Occasion: Halloween Party for 450 people
Hey! I have a really huge question to ask you. I plan school party nights and
we have a 450 person Halloween party! I really need some original games that
everyone will like, and I need some really cool ideas for decorating. We
already have a doughnut eating contest, costume contest, and a balloon pop
thing. A haunted house is somewhat out of the question unless we can make sure
it's mess-free. Can you please help me??? I will appreciate it so much!
The Party Girl's advice is:
How about setting up a curtain with
slits and having people reach in and figure out what they feel. One thing to
put behind is an object in jello. Another is to soak some raw eggs in vinegar
for 24 hours and they change and feel weird. Look at party411.com/themes and
see the ideas for a halloween party.
Debra asked:
Occasion: picnic
I am in need of some ideas for a County Fair (Blue-ribbon Type) outdoor picnic.
Please advise me on this. Needing games to play, type of food to serve,
decorating ideas and prizes to give winner of a Contest of baking goods.
Please help. Debra
The Party Girl's advice is:
Some good games are the 3-legged race,
egg toss, pass the orange, relay races, egg and spoon race, scavenger hunts.
Most picnics have chicken (barbecued or fried), hamburgers and hot dogs, Cole slaw and potato salad, pasta salad, chips, pretzels, soda, cake and/or pie,
etc. As for prizes, look at www.oriental.com for their catalogue for some great
stuff. Have everyone dress in jeans with plaid shirts and get straw hats for
all. Decor could be corn stalks, red and white checkered cloths, center pieces
of picnic baskets filled with horse corn with balloons tied to the top.
Diana asked:
Occasion: husband's birthday / millennium party
I really want to be able to have a party to celebrate my husband's birthday
(Jan 1) and New Year's Eve. Before we were married, he and I threw a pretty
good party one time, and I surprised him with a birthday cake (I'm a pretty
good cake decorator). Now we are married, with a 14 month old little girl. We
have friends who are single, friends who are married, and friends who are
married and have kids. I know that we can't have a party for just adults,
because we would like to have our friends with children come, and we know they
will not be able to find babysitters on New Year's Eve. So, I need a party
idea and some how-to for a party for friends in all categories. I want the
adults to have fun, but I don't want to ignore the children, or put them in
awkward positions. What can I do? I really, really want to throw a great
party!!! PLEASE HELP! Thanks soooooo much :-)
The Party Girl's advice is:
The only way to do this is to have it
during the day on January 1st. The guys will want to watch football so have
lots of TVs available. Plan videos in one room for the kids. This may put a
damper on your plans but this is not a good party to have on New Years. No way
to make everyone happy.
Joe asked:
Occasion: Open Fraternity Party
How can my frat have an open party with a Theme where the people don't really
have to prepare before they come. we have racked our brains trying to come up
with something, but only have come up with a mardi gras idea. we had the party
and it went ok, but we need something new every week. do u have any ideas? the
them should have 2 conditions, the guests don't really have to prepare and
they must interact by way of the theme. thanx.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes for some
ideas. I can think of luau, movies, television shows, pokemon, Barney.
Betty asked:
Occasion: 10th Anniversary Clogging Workshop
I am looking for some affordable decorating ideas that will tie in with our
groups 10th Anniversary as well as the theme "Sea lion Stomp" and the
fact that we are dancers. An instructor leads the workshop from the stage and
then we fill the hall with dancers. In the past we have decorated the walls
and the edge and back of the stage. Since the ceiling is not too high this is
another area that could be decorated. I would appreciate any suggestions you
might have. Thanks, Betty.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Honestly, I have no clue about this
particular type of dancing. I might suggest looking at party411.com/themes for
some ideas and checking out www.oriental.com for their catalogue. Sorry I
can't be more specific.
jill asked:
Occasion: Halloween
my friend has been stressing like mad to think of some awesome ideas for her
party. she doesn't want the basic boos and ahhs. she wants something that
would make some people give a bloodcurdling scream. there will be a lot of
boys and girls at this at she doesn't want anybody to think she and the party
are boring. what are some great party ideas and scary effects that she can
use? her crush is going to be there and she wants to impress him by throwing
the most awesome bash ever. she has a budget and she doesn't want to go over
her limit. what can she do that is inexpensive, but creative at the same time?
thanks, jill @:) ps please hurry with your answer because she needs to start
buying now!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes at the
Halloween section. You can get great stuff from ordering the catalogue at
www.oriental.com. One fun thing, put some weird object in jello and put a
curtain in front and have people reach in and try to identify it.
Melissa asked:
Occasion: House Party
My friend and I are hosting a party at my apartment. We're after some ideas
for fun and frivolity for the evening. It's a fairly young crowd and a small
apartment but we want to have some interesting games or ways to spice it up.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Without knowing any details about your
party, it is hard to get specific. Have you looked at party411.com/gamegirl
for ideas. Take very close-up pics of familiar things and divide up into teams
and see who can get the most right. Some of the answers can really be funny.
Ask everyone to bring a baby picture of themselves and put those on display with
numbers and see who gets the most right. Have bubbles and pipes for everyone.
Tammy asked:
Occasion: retirement
My question is mostly about the gift. I want to put together a retirement
"survival kit". I've come up with a box painted as an RV as the
container. The only filler I came up with so far is a sledge hammer for his
alarm clock. I'm looking for gag as well as useful items. If you can't be of
help could you possibly direct to where I might find some guidance.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Give him a large blowup of a library
card since he will have all the time in the world to read. Get an hour glass
and take the sand out since he won't need to be anywhere at any special time.
Go to the drug store and get a bunch of the sample size products for
"old" people like dentucream and Preparation H and a hot water
bottle and say something like retirement is the beginning of falling apart.
Get one of those rubber "Donuts" they sell in medical supply places
for all the time he will spend for sitting around.
Alesha asked:
Occasion: bachelorette party
Do you know of any drinking games or funny games to play at this bachelorette party?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes under bachelorette
parties and party411.com/gamegirl.
pam asked:
Occasion: ladies night out
What is a good theme for a ladies night out? We have had several, but this is
the first one we have had in the fall. Just want to do something fun! Can you
give me some ideas we have lots of decorations we can probably incorporate
with your suggestions thank you will be waiting to hear from you. Pam
The Party Girl's advice is:
Do you all have a common interest like
a sport, hobby, etc? You could have a movie party and each person come as
their favorite star and everyone guess who they are. Get old movie posters for
decorations, and have a trivia contest about the movies. Fine a pic like the
one of Marilyn Monroe with her dress blowing up or another famous one and cut
out the face and take pics of the guests looking through the hole.
Sandy asked:
Occasion: new years 2000 party
Want to have a party at home for 50 -100 people....theme party, possibly
mystery type party, that can include all ages, children to grandparents.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Have you looked at party411.com/themes?
What can we do for you?
Karen asked:
Occasion: special event demonstration
I need some ideas for icebreakers to get all attending motivated for
encouragement to our demo team.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Take extremely close pictures of common
objects and divide the attendees into teams and see which can guess the
most in a certain period of time. Write everyone's first name on a blackboard
and have each attendee match it up with the number each is wearing. One
encourages getting to know each other and the other is teamwork.
Kelly asked:
Occasion: Halloween
I need some ideas to throw a major party. What are some scary ideas and
effects that are within my budget range?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Find a haunted house tape. They make
this sort of spider web, netting stuff you can stretch out on trees or around
the house. Something immersed in jell that they have to feel through a
curtain is always good and slimy. Look at party411.com/themes under the
halloween party for some more ideas and look at www.oriental.com for their
catalogue. They have great inexpensive stuff.
K asked:
Occasion: Centerpieces
I'm having trouble finding a centerpiece for the tables at my sweet 16...do you
have any ideas??
The Party Girl's advice is:
Without knowing your theme, this isn't
easy. Do something with your picture, either as a baby or now and use
balloons, glitter, feathers, any craft item.
Julie asked:
Occasion: halloween
I need ideas on games and decorations help soon
The Party Girl's advice is:
For ideas for the party look at
party411.com/themes and under holidays, there are great halloween ideas. See
www.oriental.com for their catalogue for decorations and favors.
Cathy asked:
Occasion: Millennium party
How can I have a family Millennium party at home with only $300.00?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes and see the
Millennium party. Use any part of it you like.
Leslie asked:
Occasion: Chili Cook off Theme
We are entering a chili cook-off and would like to use the Jamaican theme. We
have the Music, but need suggestions for male and female clothing and a way to
donate our booth. Any suggestions would help, along were to buy things.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Call the head cook "The Chili
Mon" using the Jamaican for man. Tropical is in with cocoanuts, beads,
rum type drinks (alcoholic or not), large conch shells. Very loud flowery
shirts and white pants and if not too cold, bare feet. See if you can find one
of those drums that looks like the top of a large metal barrel and has circles
for the different notes.
