American Idol!A Bar or Bat Mitzvah Theme
The hottest show on TV is the perfect theme for the hottest party in town! An American Idol Bar or Bat Mitzvah theme party will appeal to guests of all ages. After all, who doesn’t want to be in the spotlight? But while everyone will shine that night, you will be the star of the show! Here's your chance to be the star of the evening with an American Idol theme Bar or Bat Mitzvah!
American Idol Invitations
You don't have to send a theme invitation for the Bar or Bat Mitzvah party, but it's a nice touch and will get everyone extra excited for the party. Choose a music or Hollywood theme invitation for the party inserted with the formal Bar or Bat Mitzvah invitation. You can also send it after your formal invitation is sent.
Or use a great photo ticket invitation or a backstage pass with your child's face to invite your guests! What could be better than a ticket to see American Idol? You can even write that they need the ticket for entry to the party and have someone standing at the door as a ticket taker.
A caricature or semi-custom caricature invitation is also a great option for such a special party. They are completely personalized for your child and are great for centerpieces, sign in boards, seating cards and other decorations at your party.
Welcome and Cocktail Area
Who better to welcome your guests than the American Idol judges and celebrity host? American Idol theme lifesize cut-outs of Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest should be standing in the entry or cocktail area welcoming your guests! They are great party decorations and make great photo ops during the party. Add speech bubbles to the judges and Ryan for an extra splash of fun.
Also have a lifesize cutout of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child dressed as a star with a sign that says, "Welcome to American Idol! Hosted by Ryan Seacrest and starring ME!"
To make the entrance sparkle a little more, cut out stars in silver and gold, outline each side with glitter glue, and hang them from the ceiling. It will make the entrance dazzling!
We love to fill a party with balloons - they are fun and have great impact on any room. For your American Idol party, mix together Mylar gold star balloons with Mylar silver star balloons to a Hollywood feel. You can do this yourself or hire a balloon company to create balloon bouquets and arches for you in the entry and in the party room. Another fun look, if you have a long hallway leading to the ballroom is to float hundred of the star balloons (mixed with latex balloons) from the ceiling. Sign-in and Seating Card
Everyone always wants to leave their congratulations and good wishes so be sure to have a great looking sign in board available. A sign in board with a Hollywood theme and the words, "Child's Name Is My Idol!" is a special addition to your celebration. Feeling creative? Design your own sign in board using foam core. Make a collage around the border of the board with colorful stickers and photos. Write, or print out in a fun font, a clever saying like Here’s Our American Idol! or Sing Your Praises for Our American Idol!
A 3D sign in book personalized for your child is a unique alternative. The cover of this fabulous book will be decorated with his/her favorite books, music, sports, games and more – not to mention a picture of the “star.”
Guests will be anxious to take their seats for the “show" so naturally their seating cards have to be tickets. Backstage passes also make great seating cards. The cards can be laminated with a lanyard for your guests to wear during the evening. Your guests will look and feel like real VIPS! Hang a sign over the seating card table which says, "American Idol Ticket Box Office."
American Idol is all about the balloting, so why not make a ballot the seating card? Design a ballot where all the choices (checked of course) are the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child and put table information on the other side.
No matter what kind of seating card you decide to use, have fun naming the tables. Each table could be named for an American Idol winner, a well known contestant or even the songs that were sung. Kids’ tables can be named for different parts of the theater like Backstage, Green Room or Main Stage. Or, if they’re all sitting in the same area, make one large sign that says "Balcony" and hang it over their tables.
Don't forget balloons for seating card and sign in area! Create bouquets for yourself using music note balloons, guitar balloons and latex balloons or hire a balloon company to create great balloon bouquets and displays.
The Party Room
Start with a Hollywood cityscape hung behind the DJ and hang a Hollywood or music theme banner over this area with the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child’s name and 2009 American Idol printed on it. What a good way to grab everyone’s attention. Add more lighting effects in the party room as well - more spotlights on the wall or even color washes that cover the walls and ceilings. Lighting companies can even create special lights that will project your child's name on the walls and floors.
For a star studded American Idol party, you may want to invest in some cool room lighting. Rent spot lights to wash the walls in color or hire a lighting company to come in a put up moving light fixtures and even a spotlight outside.
For a bit more entertainment, talk to your DJ or a local event rental company and rent a recording booth for the party. Everyone can make their own CDs or DVDs at the party.
American Idol Theme Table Decorations
Great looking tables are a wonderful way to decorate. Cover the tables in black cloths; use a sheer overlay with glitter for extra fun. Centerpieces for adults could be small 2-sided cutouts of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child standing on a base that’s the American Idol logo.
Keep the music and Hollywood theme going with napkin rings that are director's megaphones. Your guest will be wearing their napkin ring holders long after the dishes are cleared.
Scatter personalized Bar and Bat Mitzvah cameras on each table for your guests. They’ll love being the paparazzi and the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child will have fabulous memories of the night. Everyone will be singing before the night is over!
American Idol Favors
Custom CDs with the Bar/Bat Mitzvah child’s favorite songs on it and a personalized American Idol cover will be a hit with guests of all ages. Make the favor an even “sweeter” one and pass out chocolate photo CDs or personalized candy bars at the end of the party. Delish!
