PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT
Charity Event
What:
A photo scavenger hunt where friends or co-workers team up to take pictures of themselves accomplishing outlandish feats of wit and wisdom as outlined by a list of clues provided by the charity. The team with the most points wins.
Each clue has a value. For example, find a bride and groom and take a picture of your team with them and get 100 points. Add 50 bonus points if someone is kissing the bride! It's a great afternoon of fun and frivolity all for a good cause.
How:
Teams of a minimum of 10 submit an application. There is no limit to the number of people on a team. Corporate teams are the most popular. They must have a team name, a team captain and team t-shirts with name and company sponsoring them on the back (if applicable) which are purchased from your charity (another way to raise much need dollars). Team entry fees must be paid in advance.
The cost of a team is $25 per person plus the cost of the shirts. As an enhancement, you can make a deal with a local limousine service and split the proceeds with them-during the day, it's found money for them since most limo services are only booked solid in the evenings.
Schedule:
Teams check in at the same time
and are given two hours to complete the hunt. They must be back at the
starting point exactly three hours from start time. The teams are then given
30 minutes to display their photos, identify which photo goes with which
clue and number them.
Hold a party while judging takes
place. Use local celebrities as judges, get a band or DJ to donate and let
one of the celebrities emcee and give out prizes.
Put all photos on display for
all to see.
Fundraising Components:
Each team must purchase at least one disposable camera from the charity when they arrive. They will be given the camera and a display board with markers for the team to creatively display their postage stamp photos for the judges. Extra points will be given for creativity and originality.
Since this is a charity event, hold a raffle as well. In fact, when mailing the invitation, include raffle tickets to win great prizes that you have found local retailers to donate.
Here are some other fundraising ideas:
- Sell sponsorships for the event-from $375 to $1000. $1000 sponsors get 8 team members, free t-shirts, a full page ad in the program and a limousine to hunt in style.
- Put together some celebrity teams and charge more to be members of those teams.
- Sell "stops" on the hunt-in other words, if the local Dairy Queen wants to get involved, write in a clue that is worth 100 points for a picture of the team each with a Dilly Bar!
- Sell ad space or coupon space in a program that is distributed to all.
Prizes:
What else but a camera-after all this is a photo scavenger hunt!
