Near the entry have a Big Bird jumbo air walker balloon and Elmo jumbo air walker balloon.  These 50" tall balloons have weighted feet and "walk" around the room.  The little ones will LOVE these.  They are great for photos.

There is nothing that screams birthday party as much as crepe paper streamers hung around a birthday party.  This is a toddler's birthday party, so match the Sesame Street theme using bright and very fun colors of crepe paper.  Primary color crepe paper in yellow, red and blue work very well with this theme and match all the paper goods for the party perfectly.

Another fun centerpiece is an Elmo piñata.  You can use it for an activity, of course, but it's also great on the center of a dinner table or on a buffet. 

Surround the centerpiece of your choice with a few photo table tents featuring photos of your cutie during his or her first year.

Dinner can be simple at a first birthday party.  I'd get a few sheet pizzas and pans of pasta for everyone and salads for the adults.  Look for Sesame Street theme cookies and crackers (available with the infant and toddler food at the grocery store) and have them around the room for everyone to snack on during the party.  Have assorted sodas and bottles of water available for the adults and juice boxes for the kids. 

At cake time, decorate the birthday boy or girl with a colorful Sesame Street 1st birthday bib and a 1st birthday cake hat.  A fun Elmo cake (made in an Elmo cake pan) will be a big hit at the party.  That bib will be a big help with your one year old discovers the joy of cake for the first time!  Or how about as assortment of cupcakes decorated like the different Sesame Street monsters?
