Happy 30th Birthday!  ...the party continues

Your 20s are almost over!  You're done with parties, drinking, going out and having fun, right?  Time to grow up? No way!  You may be older and your parties more sophisticated, but ... THE PARTY CONTINUES! 

There are a ton of great places to have a 30th birthday.  Here are a few I've been to that were great:

• A pool hall.  Most will allow you to rent a section of tables for an evening.  Set out drinks, some appetizers, a few balloons and, voila! Instant party!

• A wine bar/restaurant.  If you have a local vineyard, even better.  Let your guests sample different wines and have out a cheese/crackers/fruit display.

• Bowling!  It's fun at any age!

• Whirly Ball.  Do you have one in your city?  It's GREAT fun and a wonderful group activity

• Someone's home.  Easy enough and always fun! 

Once you choose your location, you won't have a ton of work to do for this party.  Being together with friends is the most important piece to success.  But, here are some ideas that will help you plan a perfect 30th birthday party for you, a friend or loved one!

The Party Continues ... Birthday Party Invitations

For a one of a kind invitation, have a caricature invitation made of the celebrant. A caricature invitation not only creates a great caricature you can use several times during your event but it will also let you feature hobbies and character traits of the birthday boy or girl.

The Party Continues ... Birthday Party Welcome and Decorations

The caricature you used for your invitation can become a life-sized cutout that will greet guests. These are always a hit and are a great souvenir for the guest of honor! 

Add a welcome banner to the entrance to your party as well.  They are water proof, so you can even use them outside. 

As your guests arrive, you should greet them at the with a drink.  Why not serve martinis in light up martini glasses.  They make a great favor!  (Having your party at that wine bar?  Use the light up wine glass.  Going bowling?  Use the light up pilsner glass.)

The guest of honor (if it's a female!) should be given a flashing birthday girl sash to wear throughout the evening.

You don't need to go too crazy with decorations for this party.  Regardless of your location, I would highlight the birthday boy or birthday girl.  Set up a table (near the bar) with framed photos of the celebrant through the years.  This is a great place for a "sign in" area - let guests sign a signature platter (available online or in many gift stores) or a personalized 3D sign in book or sign in board. 

For another fun festive touch, hang 30th birthday glitter swirls from the ceiling.  Add an assortment of balloon bouquets around the room using bright colored latex balloons.  

The Party Continues ... Tabletop Decorations

There are great milestone birthday party paper goods that can be used for your party.  My favorite, of course, is the 30th birthday paper goods featuring the "the party continues" theme.

Balloons to match the paper goods can be used throughout the party.  Why not have them coming out of velvet Happy Birthday hats. If your guests like their martinis enough, I guarantee you'll have people walking around the party wearing the hats WITH the balloons coming out.  Talk about a photo op!  Don't forget to get personalized cameras to get pictures of this and other special moments from your party!

Your caricature can also be used as a custom 3-sided centerpiece.  It's open at the top, so you can add balloons or flowers in the center of the base.  Your guests will all want to take one home! 

The Party Continues ... Activities

Let your party location dictate your activities.  You're pretty much set at a bowling alley.  Have a wine tasting at a wine bar.  If you're having a party at home, I think you'll find your guests are happy to enjoy each other's company.  Don't forget our games page for game ideas for any party!
