Schemka asked:
Hello my boyfriend and I wanted to throw a barbeque sort of like a little get together with our friends and I wanted to know how do u get rid of unwanted guest that were not invited. and what should I wear since
I am the host of the event, thanks
The Etiquette Queen says:
If you make sure adults are there, they can deal with unwanted crashers for you. Be sure to have some on hand for the entire evening.
Since I assume that this is a casual evening, I would wear a favorite top with a pair of jeans.
Julie asked:
My parents 50th anniversary is coming up the 31rst of July. My sister and I can't afford to throw a party. Is there anything else we can do that is
expectable? I can't just let it go by. If we through a small party I'm afraid we will offend someone who didn't get
invited, and neither my sister or I have the room.
The Etiquette Queen says:
Why not treat them to an overnight at a bed and breakfast or an evening on the town with everything pre-arranged. Make it romantic. find a wedding picture and a current picture of them and have them put together and blown up for your parents. Ask friends and relatives to send you a memory and/or a photo and put them labeled in an album.
Matt asked:
I am planning our High School Prom pretty much by myself. I am getting the programs printed, but what I send them is what they print. My question is when I am listing the guys and girls for Prom Court on the back page of the program, do I make two columns and label the first Girls and the second Guys, or are there more appropriate titles to give the columns?
The Etiquette Queen says:
What has been used before? If there is one particular listing used many times in the past, I would say to use this. If it has changed each year, look at what was done and see what you like. You don't need to reinvent the wheel.
Marx-Mozilla asked:
What is the proper Champagne Glass etiquette for serving champagne? Saucers or Flute ?
The Etiquette Queen says:
Flute - lets the bubbles breathe and looks good.
Iris asked:
Who should make the toast's) at the wedding rehearsal party.
The Etiquette Queen says:
Generally, the best man makes one. Then anyone who feels like it can. I loved when my father and my father-in-law did it. Brought the families closer
Suzanne asked:
Should waiters/waitresses serve food from the left or right of the diner? Then from what side should they be removing the plate? Thanks
>
The Etiquette Queen says:
Serve from the left, remove from the right.
Sharon asked:
A close friend of mine is hosting a bridal shower for my daughter and we
were curious to know the significance of the Jordan almond used in favors.
Should there be a certain number of almonds used according to a tradition or
using white only etc.? Thanks for the information if there is some....
The Etiquette Queen says:
Almost every day someone comes up with something I have never heard of
before. Today is your day. I can't even imagine the reason or origin of this
custom. You might try the local library or try keyword Jordan almond. If you
find out, let me know.
Kristin asked:
During a bus. function such as a convention what side do you put your name
badge?
The Etiquette Queen says:
People usually put it on the left. I really don't know why. I have seen
some on the right but for some unexplained reason, I have a harder time
reading it.
Eric asked:
How to impress a girl that way out of one's league by throwing a party??
The Etiquette Queen says:
I don't believe that anyone is out-of-someone's-league. It is all about how
you look at yourself. Your are unique, just like everyone else. I also don't
think throwing a party is a good way to get to know or impress someone. Find
out what she likes to do or where she likes to go. Then ask her to do that.
Cynthia asked:
I want to know about envelope etiquette for wedding invitations. Thanks.
The Etiquette Queen says:
Inside the large envelope addressed the invitation is put in with the fold
going to the bottom. Inside the main invitation is the reply card with a small
envelope, addressed and stamped.
Margaret asked:
Are the little stirrers served with alcoholic drinks also used for drinking
the drink?
The Etiquette Queen says:
That's why they are called stirrers. After stirring your drink, remove
stirrer.
