Occasion: Hosting road rally/surprise birthday party for hubby's 30th!
I need some ideas on how to disguise clues for a road rally. The final destination is where there will be a surprise party for my husband's 30th. I thought of ideas like getting a matchbook with a restaurant bar printed on the front of it, but then write the real place I want everyone to go will be hidden behind the matches inside. Or using a tea bag, and putting cut up letters to
>put together to figure out the next destination. HELP!!
The Game Girl says:
Couple of ideas here to either use or adapt.
be able to help you out with a Road Rallye. But you can do your own
fairly simply. Drive the route you want to take, ending at a pizza
parlor. Redrive the route and put up paper plates on telephone poles
that offer new directions or have riddles to solve. Write down the route
using terms like "Turn left at yellow house," "Make the first right at
the T," and copy for all players. One player drives, the other navigates
using the directions. Tell them to watch for additional instructions on
the pie plates, such as "Ignore last direction." Be sure to tell
everyone where you're going to end up in case they get lost. Then award
prizes for first place, last place, most lost, best answers to riddles,
and so on.
Take a picture of final destination or a piece of it and cut it up like a jigsaw puzzle and put clues on pieces and put them in an envelope.

Occasion: 40th Birthday Party
How do you conduct a Scavenger Hunt? Do you design the clues for each item that is going
to be hidden?
The Game Girl says:
That sounds more like a Treasure Hunt, with riddles or clues for each hidden item. A
Scavenger Hunt is usually a list of items the players must find throughout the
neighborhood, by asking neighbors or scouring the area. A Scavenger Hunt might list such
items as: cigarette butt, old Cosmo magazine, purple lipstick, food coupon, can of beans,
and so on - items that the neighbors won't mind giving up. A Treasure Hunt clue might be:
"Roses are red, So is this clue, Hurry and find this, Before it turns blue..."
so the players might search the refrigerator for something that's getting cold!

Occasion: 30th Surprise Birthday Party
I am interested in having a surprise b-day party for my husband. He likes activities so I
was thinking of having a road rallye. I am not sure how to do this. Any hints? Do you know
anyone who plans these sorts of event?
The Game Girl says:
You can find party planners in the yellow pages and they'll be able to help you out
with a Road Rallye. But you can do your own fairly simply. Drive the route you want to
take, ending at a pizza parlor. Redrive the route and put up paper plates on telephone
poles that offer new directions or have riddles to solve. Write down the route using terms

Occasion: Bachelorette
I want to do a treasure hunt but don't really know what people do. Any ideas?
The Game Girl says:
Check out the Bachelorette Scavenger Hunt idea in the Bachelorette category, where you
collect something from each place you stop.
Sheri Bredeson asked:
Occasion: Birthday Party
I was thinking of having a large treasure hunt, using cards to hit the city spots. What do
you suggest to be the easiest and funnest way of doing this?
The Game Girl says:
I'm an old Road Rallyer from way back. Plan the route ahead of time, keeping to the off
streets and quieter areas of the city. Draw a map as you go. Use the map to create a list
of route instructions to the final destination which might be a pizza parlor. Drive the
route again, and attach paper plates to telephone poles with additional instructions,
puzzling questions to answer, or other clues to the route. Gather the crowd at the
starting point, give them their directions, and note their departure times. Be sure to
include the final destination on the instructions in case someone gets lost! After you
gather at the final destination, award prizes for players who didn't get lost, took the
most direct route, found the clues along the way, and had the best time. Award a booby
prize, too!
