I am having a party in our home with about 12 couples. I
>need an idea for a theme and some games that we could play since it

Ryan asked:
Occasion: New Years Eve Party
We need a game to play, that will get the party started
>off right. We are having a fairly casual setting. There will be
>dancing and drinking. This is a competitive group and High to
>Moderatly-High drinking group. There will be a large number of
>couples with a smaller group of singles. We are a loud and
>boysterous group that needs something that will make us laugh. The
>party normally breaks off to be a lot of men together and a lot of
>women together not a lot of comingeling between sexes. Can you
>suggest something to bring the two groups together?
The Game Girl says:
Play team games and mix the teams. Pass the orange is boy/girl and so is Ha-ha (head on stomachs going ha, haha, hahaha etc.) Trivial pursuit or a scavenger hunt with teams.
christi asked:
Occasion: New Years eve Mardi gras party
We need to know some party games..... We have purchased
>decorations already. Everything is purple green and yellow. Party
>games involving mardi gras theme please. Also, I have already
>ordered a king cake. So do you have any ideas how to incorporate
>it? We have Purchased tons of beads for everyone also.
The Game Girl says:
You could go to the craft store and get supplies for everyone to make a mask and/or headdress.
Mardi Gras is a time for revelry so why not have some physical games. Go back to childhood and play duck, duck, goose and musical chairs. Pass the orange is great for laughs (orange under the chin, person to person) and Ha-Ha (everyone lies with their head on someone's stomach in a chain and first person says ha, next ha-ha and so on and see if you can get all the way around without cracking up.
Jennifer asked:
Occasion: millenium
I am having a New year's eve party at my house. And I am

I thought of doing a newlywed type game where the theme
>could be something like, "I've know you since the last millenium..."
>Couples would play and I just wondered if you've heard of anything
>similar or had suggestions. Thanks.
The Game Girl says:
I don't know of anything in that catagory. You could get one of those boxed mystery games. Or play a Trivial Pursuit type of game. Make of list of questions such as: where born, favorite color, etc. and see who can get the most right for another person or for the whole group.
Surf the site for other ideas.
Anne asked:

Plan a scavenger hunt either inside or out.
Blow up a pic of Father time and play a game of Pin the Part.

Occasion: New Years Eve Party 2000
>I am trying to plan a small millenium party at my home, low budget, and total
>guests maybe 8. I am in search of some fun party games, and found your site,
>and hope that you would have some ideas to share. I saw the charades for

>
>Also, in addition, if you have any games that children could play (ages 6-10)
>that will be at the party for a while, (even if they could be played with the
>adults) that would be great. But, if not, the adult games would do just fine
>and be a great help.
>
>
The Game Girl says:
This may sound crazy but adults like playing children's games also. Why not musical chairs, Pin the tail and relay races. Get a pinata and fill it with hershey's kisses. Get a boxed mystery game for the adults to play. Surf some of the other areas for ideas.
tammy asked:
Occasion: fifth grade chrismas party
What some christmas games that ten year olds can play
>with little props?
The Game Girl says:
think of things that come in pairs such as comb and brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc. and write the word of one on a card. Pass the cards out secretly to each kid and see how long it takes them to match up. The only rule is that they can't ask directly what the word the other person has.
Maybe you could try some of these: Here's a fun one, no pressure, easy
to prepare and do, and can easily tie into your angel theme. Buy or make
some baker's dough - enough for everyone. (Recipe: 4 cups flour, 1 cup
salt, 1 3/4 cups water, mix and divide into 10 parts. You can color the
dough with food coloring if you prefer. Make more if needed for more
players.) Give each player a section of dough and ask them to make an
angel. Have them set their completed angels on a long table for everyone
to admire. Then give awards for: "Most Delicate Angel," "Biggest Angel,"
"Funniest Angel," "Strangest Angel," "Cutest Angel," "Saddest Angel,"
and so on! Why not have a talent show. Tell people to prepare something
for the party and then video tape it and show it to the guests. Everyone
must participate to really make it fun. Have everyone bring a baby
picture of themselves and put them on a board with numbers. See who can
guess the most right. Start off with a blown up picture of Father Time
and play a game of Pin the beard. Set up a Treasure Hunt in one of the
houses and cute poems as clues. Get one of those great box mystery games
and everyone be a character.

>What would be appropriate for an engagement Party???
The Game Girl says:
Some of the game at the bridal shower site, the adult game site and dinner party site might appeal.
Marc asked:
Occasion: Couples night

I am having a 50th birthday party for my husband. I need
>ideas for some adult games we can play. I don't want anything

The Game Girl says:
Blow up a picture of him and play a game of Pin the Part. Then have everyone sign it. Ask your friends to each bring a written memory of something about your husband and take polaroids of all the guests and put these in an album.
Name that tune is fun for any musical party. Get a CD full of old 70s

The Game Girl says:
There's the famous "draw a name from a container and they get to pick a gift from a pile.
there's blind pick where you put the right number of gifts in a large pillow case or bag and each person takes one, sight unseen.
Number the gifts and let the guests draw a number.
Hand everyone a gift and get in a circle and play music and when the music stops that's your gift. - Like musical chairs.

LONNIE asked:
Occasion: CHRISTMAS PARTY
Can you give me more details about the GIFT EXCHANGE game?
The Game Girl says:
You can have each person pick a name out of a container, get a blank card and put the name on it and put it in a random pile. Or, put the gifts in a pile and blindfold the person and let them pick by feel. Just make sure you establish a dollar limit.
Kim asked:
Occasion: Christmas Party
I need to know how to play the gift exchange game.
>I have several different ways, but I need to know
>for sure. Can you please help?
The Game Girl says:
there are several ways. You can assign who gets who, You can have people bring the gift and pick the name from a hat and keep it secret and write a tag and put it in a pile. Whatever works for you. Just make sure that you have a dollar limit.
Lauren asked:
Occasion: New Year's Eve Party
I am planning a New Year's Eve party with my friend. We're expecting a lot of people there, mostly high-school aged. We're all out going and love to have fun. I need some game ideas that will get every one involved and will be sure to get everyone laughing and in the millenium mood.
The Game Girl says:
Blow up a picture of you and your friend to poster size and play a game of Pin the Body Part with you supplying the arms, legs, etc. Then have everyone sign it. Give everyone a disposible camera to take funny candid shots. Have everyone bring a baby pic of themselves and put them on a board and see who can get the most right. Look at the partygirl site at the millenium theme site for more ideas. Get a boxed mystery game.
Judy asked:
Occasion: Housewarming party
She has lived in this area about 5 years and just built>her house, what games can we play? I checked out your housewarming games, and none of them seemed right. Have any suggestions?
The Game Girl says:
Get a picture of her blown up to poster size and play a game of Pin the Body Part with you supplying the arms and legs, etc. Then have everyone sign the poster for her to keep.
Here's an easy one that will get the group mixing and talking. Find two
items that go together, such as: lock and key, cookie and milk carton,
pencil and paper, book and bookmark, and so on. As the guests arrive,
hand them one item. It's their job to find the other person at the party
who matches their item. When everyone has found his or her partner, have
them share their connections.
Name that tune is fun for any musical party. Get a CD full of old 70s
hits, record bits from each song, then have the crowd "Name That Tune!"
Or write down lines from 70s songs and have the players name the tune.
Another idea - dig out old annuals from the 70s, write down some of the
big events, and have the guests name the exact year when something major
happened! Or use any decade.

Tanya asked:
Occasion: Christmas
I would like to have some ideas on what games to play that would be interesting and fun for all my guests. There will be both guys and girls at my party.

Rose asked:
Occasion: 18 birthday
I always have huge partys, no drinking and stuff because my parents...most people my age get prett bored.....I am just asking for ideas to entertain them...Please and thank you.....
The Game Girl says:
Look at gamegirl under adult games. Have a pic of yourself blown up and play a game of Pin the Nose. Also maybe a scavenger hunt with teams. Have a polaroid camera available to take photos to give the guests or maybe give them disposible cameras to take runny shots.
Rachael asked:
Occasion: My 30th Birthday Bash
Do you have any ideas for games or decorations for a Famous People Fancy Dress?
The age makes some games more difficult to get people involved.
Your site is fantastic for ideas though.
The Game Girl says:
Have each person dress as their favorite famous person, either fictional or non-fictional. They can't tell anyone who they are and the person who gets the most right in the shortest period of time wins a prize. (How about an autograph book to get the autographs of all the "famous" people?)
One game we used to play was initials. You give everyone a list of initials of famous people and a prize for the person who gets the most.
Use posters of well-recognized people for decoration (do them in black and white) and you cn use Black and white as your theme. Centerpieces could be a bottle of champagne with black and white balloons tied to them with glitter at the base.
Plan a scavenger hunt.
~*Erica*~ asked:
Occasion: christmas
I'm having this game for christmas (it's the christmas trivia one that you have posted). And I need some more good questions from ages 5 to about 70 years of age about Christmas. In other words, some hard questions and some easy ones.
The Game Girl says:
If you don't mind straying from the Christmas questions, do ones about Disney movies. They would cover the entire age range.

The Game Girl says:

D. asked:
Occasion: Millenium New Years Eve Progressive Dinner
We are planning to have this progressive dinner party with 4 or 5 couples from our immediate neighborhood on this new years eve. We would like some games we could play at each house where a different meal course will be served. Perhaps some where small gag-type prizes could be awarded.
The Game Girl says:
Start off with a blown up picture of Father Time and play a game of Pin the beard.
Set up a Treasure Hunt in one of the houses and cute poems as clues.
Get one of those great box mystery games and everyone be a character.
Here's a fun one, no pressure, easy to prepare and do, Buy or make some baker's dough - enough for

Have a progressive story. One person starts and after 60 seconds, the next person goes on and so on.
Do your own kareoke and tape it for future viewing.
Pamela asked:
Occasion: Open House
I was looking for some games to play at our open house. Party girl suggested a scavenger hunt on the game page I was unable to find it.
>Could you help?
>
The Game Girl says:
That sounds more like a Treasure Hunt, with riddles or clues for each
hidden item. A Scavenger Hunt is usually a list of items the players
must find throughout the neighborhood, by asking neighbors or scouring
the area. A Scavenger Hunt might list such items as: cigarette butt, old
Cosmo magazine, purple lipstick, food coupon, can of beans, and so on -
items that the neighbors won't mind giving up. A Treasure Hunt clue
might be: "Roses are red, So is this clue, Hurry and find this, Before
it turns blue..." so the players might search the refrigerator for
something that's getting cold!
Hand out clues that refer to something specific you want them to find in the house. Poems are good to use. Divide them into teams or let them work individually. Have funny prizes for the winners. You should plant (sometimes in plain sight) cute and funny stuff.
Ann asked:
Occasion: 50th birthday party
I am looking for idaea for a 50's birthday party?
The Game Girl says:
Blow up a pic of the person and play a game of Pin the Nose and then have everyone sign the poster.
Borrow a rocking chair and fringed shawl and have the birthday person sit with that while opening gag presents. Go to the drugstore and get a bunch of those sample products for "old" people like Preparation H and Metamusil and wrap them up. Find things like Ace bandages, a walker, etc. Take plenty of pics. Have someone take a polaroid of each guest with the birthday person and give that as a favor.
Then play some kid games like duck, duck, goose and hide and go seek.
Rachel asked:
Occasion: birthday
I would like some really cool ideas for a 70s theme party/30th birthday party...I also may add some year 2000 things, and need to know what kind of games would be good for adults that they wouldn't think are stupid and they would really enjoy participating in...anything you can help me with would be greatly
>appreciated!!
The Game Girl says:
You might consider a few of these ideas:
When the guests aren't swimming, you might play a game of "This is your
Life." Gather the group around the Birthday Boy, and announce "This is
Your Life." Run through special episodes of his life, such as Graduation
from High School/College, Marriage, First Birth, First Job, and so on.
When you mention an event such as Graduation from College, have one of
his former teachers enter party to say a few special words. For
marriage, ask the minister to come by. Keep these special people hidden
in a separate room until game time, then bring them out one at a time as
you share the Birthday Boy's life with his friends. the scene

Create a timeline with photographs of the guest of honor. Stick the
photos to sheets of colored paper and tape them in sequence to the party
room wall. Assign a picture to each party guest and have them write a
funny comment underneath the picture. When everyone is finished, have
the guest of honor read all the comments from start to finish!
Here's another: Dig out a few interesting facts about the honoree - an
unusual hobby, an odd middle name, or a secret wish - and write them on
slips of paper. Then make up several strange facts that are NOT true
about the person. At party time, mix up the true and false facts, pick
one, and read it aloud. Ask the first person on the left to tell whether
it's true or false. Give a cheap gag gift to anyone who guesses
correctly.

Occasion: Mother's Surprise 60th Birthday
My sisters and I are looking for ideas for games for
out mother's surprise 60th birthday. She loves playing
bingo. Any other ideas for games would be appreciated.
The Game Girl says:
Since Mother likes Bingo, why not personalize it to
fit the occasion. Make up Bingo card from posterboard.
Collect a bunch of facts about Mother, such as where she
was born, what school she attended, what her favorite
color is, and so on. Turn these facts into questions
and write them on individual index cards. Write the
answers on the Bingo cards, scattered randomly on
each one. Then draw the question cards, read the
questions, and have the players answer by covering
the correct spot on the Bingo card!
Holly Olson asked:
Occasion: Military Officer Wive's Club meeting
I'd like some ideas on fiesta party games. I'm
already planning to break a pinata but I wanted
to do something else as well . . . any suggestions?
The Game Girl says:
Instead of having prizes or candy in the pinata,
why not have a clues to a treasure hunt, or trivia
questions that must be answered for a prize. Check
the rest of this section for more ideas that might
work with your Fiesta!
Juliet asked:
Occasion: 30th Birthday Party

We don't want everyone to get bored.

Avoiding boredom seems to be the most common theme

wide range of ages. Try GAMES PEOPLE PLAY or THE BEST
PARTY BOOK. And check out the list below for other

Sandy asked:
Occasion: College Graduation Party

40. I am in search of games for his party.
The Game Girl says:
I've got some game ideas under this section that might
help, and more game ideas in my book The Best Party
Book, available through the Party411 Bookstore. Trivia
games are great for graduation. Then try "Get A Job!"
List job requirements for a variety of jobs and read
them off to the graduate. See if he can guess what
kind of job it is!
Lisa Day asked:
Occasion: 1st Birthday
I am looking for some Disney themed party games
that everyone from 1 to 50 years can play. Can
you help me with games for the young and the old?
The Game Girl says:
Check around the Game Girl and you'll find quite a
few that are appropriate for all ages. Or try a game
of Picture Me! Give all the guests a large sheet of
white paper and a felt-tip pen. Set the Birthday
Baby in the middle of the room, and have all the
guests draw her portrait - in less than 5 minutes!
When everyone is done, collect the portraits and
tape them on the walls for everyone to admire. Award
prizes for funniest, best, most abstract, smallest,
and so on if you like. Then treasure these drawings
forever by placing them in the baby book so she can
enjoy them in years to come.
Kim Roberson asked:
Occasion: 30th Birthday - Pool Party
What can I do so we aren't just having a day of

It won't be a surprise but I would like something
about the party to be unknown to him.
The Game Girl says:

Liz asked:
Occasion: Sorority Birthday Party
We have our annual sorority birthday party coming
up and I'm in charge of games. We all know each
other but the men take a while to warm up. We need
a game that is fun and will involve the men too.
Racey is okay.
The Game Girl says:
A game of "Her Stuff" will get them talking and
bonding. Ask each woman to bring something that belongs
to her, that her partner may not know she has, such
as a piece of jewelry, a makeup item, a fashion
accessory, or you can even make it panties if you
feel risque. Set the items on a table for display.
Have the men lookover the items and try to guess
which one belongs to his partner. When everyone has
had a chance to guess and announce his answer aloud,
have the women retrieve their items and see how many
men got the correct answers! The rest will be in
the dog house....
Rob Seutter asked:
Occasion: Party for Storytellers
I may be planning a party for a group of storytellers who have been communicating over the
internet. I do not have a lot of money, but am looking for some good ideas and game,
particularly participation. Any suggestions?
The Game Girl says:
If they're all storytellers, use that as your guide for the games and activities. Pull
out questions from your favorite stories from childhood and let them compete for answer.
Or have them tell a round-robin story, where they can only say one sentence at a time or
you have a particular theme that suddenly changes in the middle. Or have them act out
stories without talking and see if the others can guess what the story is.
Stephanie Helmick asked:
Occasion: Mother's 50th Birthday
I need some games to play at the party. I have a 50s dance contest planned and a hula hoop
contest, but I need more. Can you help?
The Game Girl says:
I mentioned a 50s Trivia contest earlier, so you might try that. How about a Name That
Tune contest using 50s music? Then some memory games about the guest of honor and what she
was doing back in the 50s.
Marcy asked:
Occasion: 40th Birthday
I would like to play games that will get people talking to one another. Games that are
humorous. I am not interested in card or board games. Games that are easy to do.
The Game Girl says:
Here's an easy one that will get the group mixing and talking. Find two items that go
together, such as: lock and key, cookie and milk carton, pencil and paper, book and
bookmark, and so on. As the guests arrive, hand them one item. It's their job to find the
other person at the party who matches their item. When everyone has found his or her
partner, have them share their connections.
Hope Wheeler asked:
Occasion: Mom's Night Out
The ladies in my neighborhood get together once a month at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night at
someone's house. Any ideas? In the past we have played Bunco, brought wedding albums, and
just talked.
The Game Girl says:
How about a personalized trivia game? If you're the hostess for the night, call up the
group members and ask them some questions about their lives, such as "Where did you
meet your husband?" "What was your first job?" "What did you want to
be when you grew up?" "Where were you born?" and if you want to be risqué,
"Where did you first 'do it'?" Write the answers down, then have read off the
questions, one at a time for each player. Have the rest of the group try to guess the
answers! You'll know each other even better after this game!
Val Giesbrecht asked:
Occasion: Bowling Banquet
We are having a bowling banquet and we would like some help on a theme, and maybe some
games to play. The average age is about 45. If you could help, it would be great. Thanks.
The Game Girl says:
A Bowling Banquet? Do you sit on the bowling balls and eat on the lanes? Never mind -
it sounds fun. I'll give you some game ideas you might want to try. Instead of regular
bowling, try a few Crazy Bowling games. Set obstacles along the lane and see if anyone can
still knock over a few pins. Have the bowlers roll the balls blindfolded. Tell them to
make up a funny bowling step and see how it works. Have two bowlers bowl together with one
ball. Assign dollar values to the different pins - some plus, some minus - then see what
the totals are after the pins are knocked down. Bring your own pins, painted to look like
some of the players.....
Rose Seanger asked:
Occasion: Bowling Banquet
I am in search of some fun entertaining games that can be played to win prizes. The
crazier the better.
The Game Girl says:
Have a dress-up contest with guests wearing the most outlandish, cliched bowling
outfits they can put together - then award prizes for Best, Funniest, Ugliest, and so on.
Set out the bowling balls and have the guests decorate the balls in small teams, using
felt pieces, ribbon and other temporary decorating items that can be stuck on with tape.
Have them make up a unique bowling stance and show it off to the judges. Award prizes for
most creative and bizarre.
Alma Connell asked:
Occasion: Tax Day Party
Any ideas for games or entertainment?
The Game Girl says:
Be sure to have everyone come dressed for the Poor House first! That should set the
mood. Then have a tax quiz. Pull out the tax book, jot down some basic questions about
deductions, then turn them into questions. Add a few bogus questions that are not
deductibles, and have a Tax Bee. The winner gets a Taxes for Dummies book.
Pat Pfeiffer asked:
Occasion: Husband's 60th Birthday
Help, I need some ideas for games for the over 50 crowd.
The Game Girl says:
Here are some quickies from THE BEST PARTY BOOK, which you'll find in the Party411
Bookstore: Create a timeline with photographs of the guest of honor. Stick the photos to
sheets of colored paper and tape them in sequence to the party room wall. Assign a picture
to each party guest and have them write a funny comment underneath the picture. When
everyone is finished, have the guest of honor read all the comments from start to finish!
Here's another: Dig out a few interesting facts about the honoree - an unusual hobby, an
odd middle name, or a secret wish - and write them on slips of paper. Then make up several
strange facts that are NOT true about the person. At party time, mix up the true and false
facts, pick one, and read it aloud. Ask the first person on the left to tell whether it's
true or false. Give a cheap gag gift to anyone who guesses correctly.
Toni Migura asked:
Occasion: Adult Hoedown Party
Do you have any hoedown party games?
The Game Girl says:
First. have some fun with the square dance calls. Get someone who's an expert caller,
and have him substitute some standard calls for some funny ones so the players have to
follow the instructions for the hoedown as they hear the call. For example, you might
include "Stamp three times," "Squawk like a chicken," "Do the
step backwards," "Squat when you dance," and other silly commands! When
everyone's tuckered out, have them all remove their shoes. Line up the shoes and see if
the players can match each pair with feet!
Jennifer asked:
Occasion: Citizenship Party
What kind of games and activities for adults and kids can I plan for a citizenship
celebration?
The Game Girl says:
The best game for this type of party is a United States Trivia Bee. Check out your
history book and write down some interesting facts about the country. Turn them into
questions and have a trivia bee, just like a spelling bee. Keep asking questions until
there is only one player left to win a prize.
Donna Snajkowski asked:
Occasion: Birthday
Any games for a 70s party?
The Game Girl says:
Name that tune is fun for any musical party. Get a CD full of old 70s hits, record bits
from each song, then have the crowd "Name That Tune!" Or write down lines from
70s songs and have the players name the tune. Another idea - dig out old annuals from the
70s, write down some of the big events, and have the guests name the exact year when
something major happened!
Jennifer asked:
Occasion: Bible study/Mom's Meeting
I need some ideas for games to help break the ice and get everyone relaxed. We will be
sitting at tables so I don't want any game that takes a lot of moving around. Just
something fun and appropriate.
The Game Girl says:
Here's a quiet game that everyone can relate to. On separate pieces of paper, write
something related to mothers, such as "something's cooking," "special
holiday," "home sick," "family vacation," "arts and
crafts," "at the mall," and "quiet times." Pass out the papers at
random, have the moms read them over, then have each one recall one memory about mom
related to the note on the paper. Seems just right for this type of gathering, where
everyone can relate to a special memory.
