karen asked:
Occasion: Christmas Family Gathering
What kind of entertainment/games can I play other than a yankee swap?
The Game Girl says:
You might consider:
Have everyone send a baby picture and a recent picture and a memory or two and put these in an album for all to look at.
I love the idea of starting and maintaining traditions, especially at holiday time. Why not start a tradition of everyone getting an ornament
(make a dollar value top) that would work for anyone and wrapping it and have a grab bag ornament exchange for all the attendees. You could add to
this each year.
Also, ask the children to make an ornament for the tree.
Have needle and thread for a cranberry/popcorn stringing contest and then hang it on the tree.
Bob for apples. Divide up into teams and choose one person and use old clothes and stuff and set a time to dress and make that person up as funny and creative as possible and give them a personality. Have prizes for the winners.

Occasion: Christmas get-together
I'm looking for ideas for holiday games/activities for family get-together. All attendees are family or significant others. Thanks!

Ask each person to send you a special photo of something of the family and to write a little something about it and put this in a book (you may want to make copies for the families).

Julie Buckley asked:
Occasion: Grandparents Birthday Party
We want to have things that bring my grandparents
back to their youth. We only have 45 minutes for the
games and don't want everyone to get bored.
The Game Girl says:
I hope these games suggestions help. Also try the
Adult games,
Kid games, and
Outdoor games for
more ideas.
Chet Starn asked:
Occasion: 40th High School class Reunion
What ideas do you have for a 40th class reunion -
activities, games, etc.?
The Game Girl says:
I've got a few under this section so check them out.
You might have everyone come dressed as they were
back then, for added fun!
Margo asked:
Occasion: Family
Reunion
The family that plays together, stays together. I have eleven sisters and
brothers who have always loved to play games at our various gatherings. Can you
give me some ideas on some people mixers and challenging ones we could play
throughout the three days we will be together?
The Game Girl says:
Three days is a long time to be with the relatives!
That's quite an accomplishment in itself. As for games,
check out the ones below to see if any will work for
your group.
Shery asked:
Occasion: Family Reunion
Need some fun family reunion games and outdoor games
for reunion.
The Game Girl says:
I've got several listed here, and under the
Outdoor
Game section, so check them out.
Janelle asked:
Occasion: Block Party
We are having a block party this August and need
some games, theme, and contest ideas to have people
participate in. There will be all ages so we need
something for everybody.
The Game Girl says:
In my book, BEST PARTY BOOK, you'll find all kinds
of ideas for group parties like this. Trivia games
are fun and easy, and fit most age groups. Collect
some information about your neighbors or the neighborhood
in which you live, and make up questions to match.
For example, you might ask "Who owns a Harley?" "Who
has a swingset?" "Who lives at 185?" and so on. Then
ask the questions one at a time to the group and see
if they can come up with the answers.
Pat Miller asked:
Occasion: Family Reunion
How can we get everyone involved in an activity or
game without losing interest of the younger ones and
the older ones?
The Game Girl says:
Play "Likes and Dislikes" and get to know your
extended family even better! Ask everyone to write
down five of their dislikes and five of their likes
on index cards. Help the younger ones by writing
for them. At mealtime, when everyone is gathered
together, read the cards one at a time and have
everyone try to guess which relative the information
belongs to.
Miss Kim asked:
Occasion: Family Reunion
At our family reunions the same groups stick together. I'd like some ideas for getting a
group talking, laughing, and mixing it up. Do you have any ideas?
The Game Girl says:
Just when you think you know everything about your relatives, you find out a surprise.
Put all the names of the relatives in a hat and have everyone draw a name. They must
discreetly interview that person sometime during the party, and find out one secret that
no one knows about them. After everyone has had time to do the interviews, gather the
group together and have them share the secret they learned. The rest of the relatives must
guess who the secret is about!
Alli asked:
Occasion: College Reunion
We are a group of women who went through 4 years of college together. We know each other's
ups and downs, good memories and not so good. I would like a trivia game from that time
period. Thanks!
The Game Girl says:
Get out your college yearbook for a source of questions for your trivia game. The
pictures and events should suggest ideas for you. Then take a trip back in time and try to
remember some of the fun things you did together. Write up questions based on your
memories. Or make up the trivia game when everyone gets there by asking them to fill in
the following blanks: "Remember when we..." After each player recalls a memory,
have them ask questions about it for the trivia game.
