My office was in the parade last and we also used a patriotic theme. Our theme was "Coming Home" we built it like it was a soldier coming home from the war and his wife, children and family members waiting for him. he was dressed in uniform with a bag fool of presents and toys. We built what looked like the front of a house and place a sign on the front door that said welcome home daddy. We made the sigen look like it had been written in a child's handwriting. Our tree was all done in red,white and blue and wrapped packages red. silver and blue with extra large bows. hope this helps.
