Angie asked:
Occasion: fun
How can we have fun w/o having to stretch the budget and for me and my husband
to have some fun here in Dallas w/o the strippers and prostitutes?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Check with the Chamber of Commerce or
the local hotels.
Q asked:
Occasion: bachelorette party
Hi, I'm planning a bachelorette party for my friend in Canada but I don't know
where to find a male exotic dancer. Can you point in the right direction?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Believe it or not, it should be listed
in the yellow pages under entertainment.
kim asked:
Occasion: Christmas/holiday party
were are having our annual holiday party in Dec. and we would like to have a
fun and crazy theme to go with it, we plan on having karaoke, and the restaurant
we have chosen is on the finer side of dining. We are a group of
preschool teachers as well as 6weeks -12 years old for child care. Please send
us some CREATIVE ideas for the holiday- thank you.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at the home page and at the top
right you have a choice of what to select. Pick Holiday parties and see if
there is anything that suits you.
Tina asked:
Occasion: Pre wedding party
Us girls at work are going to hold a party for a guy at work. It is a pre
wedding party and most of the guests will be women and the party being held
for the groom. What are some ideas for games that we can do?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/gamegirl for some
ideas.
lynn asked:
Occasion: end-of-season celebration dance
what kind of party favorites or food shall I have at this dance celebration?
It's party theme is all around the soccer theme!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at www.oriental.com. They have all
sorts of theme related (especially sports) decorations. Since soccer is black
and white, definitely go with black and white foods like Oreos, choc. chip ice
cream, hamburgers and mashed potatoes, etc. (You can serve other things also)
kendra asked:
Occasion: family reunion
Please provide suggestions for the theme, games, and decorations. The
reunion is being held in a very large piece of recently cleared land.
The Party Girl's advice is:
You waited a little too long to get
very elaborate. Look at party411.com/themes for ideas, at www.oriental.com for
decorations and party411.com/gamegirl for games.
Melissa asked:
Occasion: Family Reunion
I am hosting our family reunion and I need Help BAD! We have had every theme
that is imaginable. From 4th of July to the beach themes. We have done all
holidays and I can't think of anything else to do. I have searched all over
the internet for some ideas and can't find any. We usually decorate each time
differently but with the same theme. I have bashed my brain trying to figure
something out and I can't. The reunion is in October, so I don't have much
time. Please Help Me Fast! Thanks, Melissa
The Party Girl's advice is:
Since it only happens once every 1000
years, why not a millennium theme. Go to party411.com/themes and check it out.
Julie Leddon asked:
Occasion: Bachelorette Party
Ideas for things that the bride to be can do that will mildly embarrass her.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Dance with a stripper. See
party411.com/themes for bachelorette ideas.

Rebecca Perez asked:
Occasion: parties in general
I am interested in starting my own party planning business and was wondering if
there is any party planning software out there for professionals. I know of
wedding magic pro. for weddings but is there any thing for parties in general?
PLEASE HELP!
The Party Girl's advice is:
There is nothing, believe me. Just
experience. You should work for and with someone else for a while to see how
it's done and then make the decision. You have no real life a lot of the time
and people are very demanding, especially dealing with the intangibles.
J.Lauren asked:
Occasion: Halloween Party
I'm having a Halloween Costume Party and I dunno what to do yet? Can u give me
some ideas for games and decorations??
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at the home page and at the top
under special occasions, click on holidays.
Kay asked:
Occasion: Bachlorette Party
Do the guests bring presents/gifts?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Only gag or racy gifts, nothing
serious.
J.Lauren asked:
Occasion: Halloween Party
I'm having a Halloween Costume Party and I dunno what to do yet? Can u give me
some ideas for games and decorations??
The Party Girl's advice is:
For great decorations, see
www.oriental.com. Use pumpkins, both solid and carved, corn stalks, bales of
hay, scarecrows, bats, candy corn, etc. I don't know what games to suggest
other than bobbing for apples since I don't know the ages of the guests.
Kae asked:
Occasion: Monthly Party
We're have a group singing 1940's songs dressed in uniform and women in dress
of the 40s. Decorating room and tables with colors of uniforms back then.
Thought about candles in wine bottles to reflect overseas, possibly posters,
need door prize ideas and what else to use on the tables. Thought about old
records and/or old pictures of guys in uniform or planes or whatever.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at www.oriental.com and see if
they have miniature planes and miniature soldiers. Do a web search for posters
- I know they're out there. Love the idea of old records, you can probably
find old 45's somewhere.
Kristi Thomas asked:
Occasion: Bachelorette Party
I plan on having some entertainment (male dancer) at the party and want to
know if it is appropriate to ask the guests for money to help cover the costs.
Perhaps on the invitation write $10 for entertainment. Your thoughts please.
The Party Girl's advice is:
All the parties I went to with a
dancer, the guests chipped in if they all agreed it was appropriate. Don't ask
her mom or older guests.
coreyann asked:
Occasion: ice breaker
We need new ice breaker ideas for a club get together.
The Party Girl's advice is:
How old are the members? What sex? Does
this club have a theme such as computers, sports, etc. Need to know who we're
dealing with to answer.
brooke drogmund asked:
Occasion: bachelorette party
where is a great place to go in San Francisco. The girls are fun loving and
wild, but not too crazy. Not too much sex, more of a fun drunken thing, ya
know?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Two suggestions: Look at the home page
on the left and see if your city is listed and click on that. Or call the
chamber of commerce or one of the better hotels for suggestions.
Kay asked:
Occasion: gift
Do guests bring gifts to a bachelorette party. If so - what type of gifts.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Ask you friends what they are going to
do. Sometimes it's naughty gifts, sometimes nothing.
Susan asked:
Occasion: just because
I'm a little stumped as to the appropriate food for a 60s/70s party. I was
thinking along the lines of fondue and appetizers but could use some
suggestions. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Brownies were the most popular dessert.
Granola snacks were big. Fried ravioli with marinara sauce for dipping. People
still were into red meat. Salads were basically head lettuce, tomatoes and
either Italian, French, or Russian dressing. Not too inventive. Try looking on
the internet to see what else.
Lauren asked:
Occasion: Halloween
Hey I'm trying to get some decorating ideas and party ideas for a costume
party on Halloween. It's gonna be for Junior High kids from school and
everything, so it needs to be kind-a- cool.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at www.oriental.com for great
decorations, favors, masks, etc. Have bobbing for apples, ghost sounds
playing, go trick or treating and then share candy. Have candy or Carmel apples, miniature candies, candy corn, popcorn (string some of it for
decorations). For more ideas, see party411.com/gamegirl
"Bright Eyes" asked:
Occasion: reunion
I am in the process of planning my family reunion for the year 2000. I would
like to have a gathering with a Caribbean theme. Any suggestions?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Have you looked at party411.com/themes
for some ideas. Check there first and then we can hone in on the details.
Joann asked:
Occasion: end of summer
what theme would work for a party involving many different ages?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Usually, older ones love watching
younger ones have fun so play games. Look at party411.com/gamegirl for some
ideas. Have balloons and see how long teams can keep it in the air. Just fun
and simple things. If you need a definite theme, look at party411.com/themes
under outdoor themes.
Caryn S. asked:
Occasion: Pool Party
Help!! I'm 15 and I volunteered to "take-care" of my little sisters
pool party. There will be a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds and I need help with entertainment and all that good party stuff. Thanks!!!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Play water volleyball. Have a water balloon
toss. Play some water games like who can float the longest and
races across the pool in ones and twos. Get some finger paints and paper and
let them be creative.
Nancy asked:
Occasion: Neighborhood Pot Luck
Hosting the first annual(?) neighborhood pot luck. I will be grilling chicken.
Everyone is bringing either a salad or side dish. I'll provide beverages.
Expect about 20-30 people. End of summer theme? Thought maybe I use a child's
swimming pool for drinks, rustic planter canoe for hor's d oeuvres, fishing
poles around, lights in the trees. What else?
The Party Girl's advice is:
How about an adult scavenger hunt? Look
at party411.com/themes for an idea and incorporate your own. Have the people
each bring a baby picture of themselves and put them on a board with numbers.
The person who gets the most right, wins a prize.
"Emory, Heather" asked:
Occasion: Bridesmaid luncheon
I am invited to a Bridesmaid Luncheon (as a guest, not a bridesmaid) and
wasn't sure if I was expected to bring a gift for the bride. Can you help
answer this question?
The Party Girl's advice is:
I have never heard of this practice. I
certainly don't think a gift is called for.
javy gonzalez asked:
Occasion: a friends surprise party
hi, I'm planning a surprise party for a friend and I wanted to make it a theme
party. I thought of a pajama party or a toga party but I wasn't sure. I wanted
to see if you would be able to offer me some other options or to give me some
ideas for the pajama or toga party. thanks for your help
The Party Girl's advice is:
I'm not sure of a pajama party if there
are both guys and gals. Someone could feel uncomfortable with this. Have you
looked at party411.com/themes? Lots of ideas there.
Cassie asked:
Occasion: bachelorette party
Please give us some ideas on a bachelorette party. Party will begin at a
restaurant and continue club hopping. We need ideas for games or bride to be
challenges.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes and there
is one for a bachelorette party.
Tara Snedden asked:
Occasion: Vegas trip
I leave for Vegas on 8-19 for a friends bachelorette party, we have no clue
were to go, besides bar hopping, I have no time to buy your book, although it
would have been very helpful, please help with fun Vegas ideas!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Hope you get this before you leave.
Look at the left side of the home page and see if Vegas is listed and if so,
check it out. There are so many great places to go and things to there, I couldn't begin to pick just one or two.
e asked:
Occasion: bachelorette party
what crazy things are there to do in and around Boston for a bachelorette pa
The Party Girl's advice is:
I would look at the bachelor party
theme at party411.com/themes for ideas. Then look at the city listings on the
left and see what is listed for Boston.
Caitlin Morgan asked:
Occasion: 80th birthday and book publishing
Help! My husband's mother will be 80 on Labor Day weekend. For over a year,
she has been saying that she wants no party---instead, she asked that the
family help her self-publish a book of her childhood memoirs (she is a
columnist for her local paper), and help her host a simple book signing event
upon its publication in November. However, it has become increasingly apparent
that she would also like something fun to happen on her actual birthday which
is on September 3rd, during which her kids and their families will be in town.
We are stumped, clueless and on a budget, but we would like to do something
very special---for both occasions! The September event should be small and be
able to happen quickly, while the November event will be announced to her
little community via the newspaper (with probably about 150-200 people in
attendance). What to do? A thousand virtual pieces of gold to you if you can
help. Signed, distressed daughter-in-law.
The Party Girl's advice is:
First the birthday. Why not have an
old-fashioned kid-style party with balloons, kid games or a scavenger hunt,
cake and ice cream. Get a pic of her blown up to poster size and play
pin-the-nose and then have everyone sign in on it. Have all the guests send
you some memories and put them in an album and take Polaroid's at the party and
put them in the album with the respective memories. This way you will spend
very little and have a lot of fun. For a great for either or both occasions,
see the new products area of the home page and look for edible photos. For the
book publishing party, decorate with old books, They can be bought at library
sales, used book stores, etc for next to nothing. Take a photo of her book and
blow it up to a large poster and have it on an easel at the front for all to
see. Someone must have a computer and clip art and you can use that to
decorate by finding cute bookworms, quill pens, etc. As for food, my guess is
that you want things that go far for little cost. Your best bet is cheese,
crackers, veggies, dip, pretzels, etc. For beverages, get a variety of soft
drinks and have ice.
Angela asked:
Occasion: sorority informal
I am planning a sorority informal, need ideas for college age kids to have fun
at but also original. last years have been 'barn dance' and 'luau'. Just need
some ideas.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Fiesta, indoor beach party, casino
party. these and other themes are found at partygirl411.com/themes
Brooke Flowers asked:
Occasion: female get together
I having a party what games could we play ?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Do makeovers, cook something you like
like chili, pizza, or bake cookies. Find a good version of trivial pursuit
like the TV one and play that. Or play Clue.
Lizzie McIntyre asked:
Occasion: end of year PARTY
I'm having a end of year party an I don't know what games we should play. I want
to play game like spin the bottle and games like that. it will be around
Saturday, 18 December 1999 and also what food I should prepare and what decorations
I should get. there will be approximately 50 to 60 people. and also what music
I should play. my mum is really embarrassing(?) what should I do with
her. if there's anything else I should do please send it. thank u for your time *Lizzie*
The Party Girl's advice is:
First of all, learn some respect for
your mother immediately and learn how to spell. I don't think that anything I
would suggest would work for you and I certainly don't think spin the bottle
and games like that are appropriate for teenagers. If you want to see what an
end of the year party could be, go to partygirl411.com/themes and see the millennium
theme.
Sharon asked:
Occasion: harvest/fall party
Any good ideas for activities for a harvest type party. Might tie in with a Halloween
trunk or treat. Planning a chili cook off for the menu. Working with
small church budget. thanks!!!
The Party Girl's advice is:
If you have safe access to fire, you
could make s'mores. The children could gather colorful leaves and create
pictures with the leaves, glue, crayons, etc. Even the adults would like this.
Take one or two leaves and draw around them to make an animal, person, thing,
etc. Have a large glass bowl filled with leaves and have everyone guess the
number and give the winner a small prize. You could make a harvest piņata and
fill it with candies. Play pass the orange (from chin to chin). Have a square
dance.
Cruz, Maria asked:
Occasion: party
What kind of ideas can you suggest as far as decorations, party favors and
decorations. We are having the party at a park. Help!!!
The Party Girl's advice is:
What is the occasion? Who is coming,
kids or adults? Evening or daytime? What's your budget? You must give me some
details for me to be specific. Or go to partygirl.com/themes and look at the
outdoor parties.
erin asked:
Occasion: mom's group
We have a group of 80 moms who meet without the kids to hear speakers, do
crafts, have brunch, & gab. We need to come up with cute (NOT cutsie) centerpieces
or possibly a theme for our 8 tables and 2 buffet tables.
Need to be easy to stow away each week in a storage rm. Ideas we've used
before...topiaries, birdhouses, "picnic in Provence" theme (baskets,
lavender sprigs). Help! I wrote in last wk and you responded within a day
needing more info from me...I wrote back but haven't heard back. I thought
maybe I got lost so am writing again...don't mean to be a pain in the butt!
SMILE! Thanks so much...Erin
The Party Girl's advice is:
Why not use the word "TALK"
as the theme of these get-togethers. Make a set of these letters for each
table. You can use Styrofoam of some other medium. Make each set a different
color. Put them on sticks (color coordinated) and stick them in flower pots
filled with that green stuff florists use. Decorate the outside of each flower
pot to match the color scheme of the letters, using decals, decoupage,
stencils, etc. Tie a contrasting ribbon around the pot. Sprinkle the tops with
glitter. If you have the budget, get miniature flowers (fake) and stick them
in at different levels to fill in the pot. You could have people pick a color
from a large decorated matching pot when they arrive and that could tell them
where they sit. You could use stripes on the T's, solid color on the A's,
plaid on the L's and dots on the K's. Or any version of this.
Laura asked:
Occasion: Family Reunion
I'm hosting a pot luck family reunion any suggestions for fun things for
children under 10 could do and what about the teenagers?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Why not a scavenger hunt at different age levels? It's hard to keep teenagers happy. Best you can hope for is
renting some videos, having good music (their definition, ask they to bring
their favorite CD's).
Tori asked:
Occasion: Back To School
Any ideas for food, decorations, games that fit the theme of "Back To
School"?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Go to the dollar store or discount
store and buy all sorts of school supplies. Places like office Max would be
good. Put together kits in see-thru folders for the guests to take home. For
food, talk to your mom and see what she says. Kids your age are snack happy
(so am I) so have plenty. As for games, try party411.com/gamegirl for some
ideas.
Gina Grunloh asked:
Occasion: Bachelorette
I waited until the last minute to get this party going. HELP! Any cute games
to take to the bars with us?? Gina
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes at the
bachelorette section.
Jen Snyder asked:
Occasion: 10th Year Class Reunion
Can you give me some ideas for small favors for the male alumni? We are
planning to give silk roses to the females, but the guys should have something
too. Need ideas? We don't want to go way overboard with the expense because we
will have to get about 50 favors, and I know engraving and some other ideas I
had can get expensive.
The Party Girl's advice is:
How about something sports related.
Look at www.oriental.com for ideas that aren't expensive.
"Heidi Allen" asked:
Occasion: 10 year class reunion
I have been asked to help plan our soon to be 10 year class reunion. I would
like to plan and play some fun games. We have a few ideas, but could us more.
Help!!
The Party Girl's advice is:
Why not a scavenger hunt for things
from the graduation class? That could be fun and just remembering is great.
Have a caricature of a prom king and a prom queen blown up life size with the
faces cut out. Take Polaroid's of people peeking thru.
Lori Ragland asked:
Occasion: Silent Auction
I am having a silent action the Friday before Halloween. I want to decorated
with Halloween decorations and I want to have a Halloween Theme for my auction, I
am stumped. This is a annual event and this year we wanted to spice it up. We are raising money for United Way, Combined Health Appeal, Community
Shares of Tennessee and Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee. Can you help?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Rest easy. Look at www.oriental.com for
inexpensive decorations and favors for Halloween. I use them all the time and
they are great.
BETTY HAMPSHIRE asked:
Occasion: millennium party
I want something clever to do at midnight, any suggestions????
The Party Girl's advice is:
Go to party411.com/themes and look at
the millennium party.
Tammy asked:
Occasion: slumber party to a 9 year old
Comments = Just want some ideas on what too do at a slumber party for 6-8
girls, what activities?
The Party Girl's advice is:
You could do a scavenger/treasure hunt
in the house. Look at party411.com/themes for this type of party.
Susan Graver asked:
Occasion: "Gourmet" Committee of Newcomers Club
A friend and I are responsible for our Newcomers' Club's "Gourmet"
committee. We plan gatherings with food as the basis, not necessarily
"for gourmets only." We are looking for theme/event ideas to plan
throughout the year. Any recommendations for us?
The Party Girl's advice is:
Well, you could pick a color for each
get-together and feature foods and recipes highlighting that color. Or, you
could pick a food category (i.e. salads, desserts, etc.) for each and do
unusual recipes.
Mike S. asked:
Occasion: Bachelor Party
My father and I have a basic theme for my brother's party called "Tool
Time" (where we show a Tim Allen stand-up tape and each give him a tool).
My dad and I want to roast him as well. We just need ideas for possible games
to have at the party, and ideas on how to roast him. This will be a
nonalcoholic party by the way.
The Party Girl's advice is:
Look at party411.com/themes and see
bachelor party for some ideas. As far as a roast goes, plan ahead with all the
guests and have them each come up with a funny story, personality trait,
habit, etc of your brother and get up and tell it. Whoever is the host needs
lots of funny lines that apply to your brother. I'm not sure what games grown
men play at a non-alcoholic bachelor party.
